Castaldi Vineyard

We source a 1-acre block from this vineyard, owned by grape grower and wine industry veteran Carmen Castaldi. The vineyard is located in the Santa Rosa plain on Olivet Road on terrain sloping gently to the west. The geologic derivation is from continental sedimentary rocks composed of sandstone, shale and sedimentary deposits. The soils are Huichica series loams underlain by strongly cemented old valley alluvium from mixed sedimentary, volcanic ash and basic rock sources. The spacing is 5 x8 with a vertical trellis system. The vineyard was planted in 1998 to clones 115, 828 and 777, of which we get the 777 block only.
